On March 28 – 29, 2023 the Delegation of Ukraine, headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine Pravednyk Andriy took part as an observer in the first in 2023 session of UN-Habitat Executive Board.
In its statement, the Delegation of Ukraine expressed its sincere gratitude to the leadership of the Program for their assistance provided to the Government of Ukraine in overcoming the terrible consequences of the war that Russia unleashed against Ukraine and invited the Executive Director of UN-Habitat Maimuna Mohd Sharif to visit Ukraine in the near future.
During the work of the session, an important decision aimed at the further involvement of UN-Habitat expertise to the assistance to states affected by disasters and conflicts, primarily Ukraine was also taken.
For reference: UN-Habitat was established in 1978 as the leading body in the UN system, which is responsible for coordinating the development of settlements in two main areas: providing adequate housing for all and sustainable urban development. One of the main tasks of UN-Habitat today remains the effective implementation of the "New Urban Development Program" by UN Member States.
