The 6th session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) started its work on February 26, 2024 at the
UN Environment Programme headquarters in Nairobi, the Republic of Kenya.
A number of important initiatives aimed at strengthening the international agenda in the field of environmental protection have been submitted for consideration at this year's session of the Assembly. An important element of the session will also be the consideration of initiatives aimed at strengthening of the operational activities of UNEP in countries whose environment suffers from the consequences of armed conflicts.
At the beginning of the session a statement was made on behalf of 41 countries of the world condemning the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine and calling for the restoration of the damaged ecosystems of our country and the region.
We express our sincere gratitude to the European Union and its member states, Australia, Canada, Chile, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Türkiye, the United Kingdom and the United States of America for their continued support of Ukraine and condemnation of the criminal actions of the aggressor state.
