Ambassador of Ukraine Mr.Volodymyr Butiaha and Counsul Sergii Esaulov acquainted with a work of Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Mombasa. The main task of this Center is to monitor the piracy acts and other crises situations with ships in the Horn of African region.

During the conversation with Chief of the Center Mr. Levis J. Malova was principally agreed about operational information exchange on the facts of possible capturing of the ships by the Somali pirates with the Ukrainian crew-members.

Mr. Levis Malova agreed with proposition of the Ukrainian Ambassador to consider the issue of exchange and internships of the specialists from Maritime Security of Ukraine and Kenya at the nearest time.

The specialists from Maritime Security of the leading European states participate in the crises situation stimulation, traineeship in the fully equipped Maritime Rescue Coordination Center.

Replying for the Ukrainian request Chief of the Center transferred the recommendations, developed together with International Maritime organizations, for the captains, operators and ship-owners in order to avoid the Somali pirate’s attacks and acts in case of the capture the hostages. The Ukrainian ship-owners will be able to familiarize with the recommendations at the nearest time.
