On the 27th of January 2011 Ambassador of Ukraine Mr. Volodymyr Butiaha met with Director General of Kenya Maritime Authority Mrs. Nancy Karigithu.
Discussing the issue of the sea freight increasing between Ukraine and Kenya, the Ambassador expressed the necessity to star cooperation between port of Ukraine and port of Kenya, in particular, between state trade port of Mykolaiv and the Kenyan port of Mombasa. The Kenyan Maritime Administration was transferred a draft Memorandum on cooperation between ports of Mykolaiv and Mombasa.
The Director General of Kenya Maritime Authority proposed to sign a Memorandum on cooperation between Ukraine and Kenya in the marine aria. Such Memorandum will provide the internships of the Kenyan specialists in the Ukrainian ports and the Ukrainian specialists in the Kenyan ports as well.
Mr. Volodymyr Butiaha exchanged views with Mrs. Nensy Karigithu concerning the ways of sea piracy combating and informed about the international law initiative of Ukraine. With aim to enlist the support of Kenya, Director General of Kenya Maritime Authority Mrs. Nancy Karigithu was transferred the draft of the Comprehensive Convention on the combating piracy on the sea.
The Ukrainian diplomat also asked for a help the Kenyan Maritime Administration in searching for a missed or a misappropriated ships of Ukraine, in particular the Ukrainian fishing boat «Deneb», disappeared after operating of the landlord and temporary registration in the port of Mombasa as it was informed by the Ukrainian ship-owner «Atlantica».
