On November 19, 2021 H.E. Mr. Andrii Pravednyk held an on-line meeting with Mr.Abels Mkandavir, Acting Director of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malawi.
Further deepening of bilateral cooperation, in particular mutual support of initiatives within the international organizations, was identified as a priority area of cooperation between the countries. In this regard, the representative of the MFA of Malawi assured that his country supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and considers Crimea as inalienable part of Ukraine.
The parties also noted that there is a significant potential for cooperation between Ukraine and Malawi in the field of education. In order to further expand the study opportunities for Malawian students in Ukraine, H.E. Mr. Andrii Pravednyk and Mr.Abels Mkandavire agreed on the necessity to sign a corresponding bilateral document.
The Malawian Side also expressed its interest in further development of trade and economic relations, in particular in the context of Malawi's goals for the rapid industrialization of the agricultural sector. Thus, Abels Mkandavire expressed interest in importing Ukrainian machinery and agricultural products.
In his turn, Ambassador of Ukraine proposed to consider the possibility of concluding a MoU between the Exporters and Investors Council (EIC) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine with the Malawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Andrii Pravednyk expressed hope for further strengthening and intensification of the relations between the two countries.
