On March 27^th, 2017 H.E.Mr.Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Kenya met with H.E.Mr.Willy Bett, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Republic of Kenya.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the ways of enhancing of the bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Kenya in the agro-industrial sector and lifting by the Government of the Republic of Kenya of the import duty on certain types of agricultural products. The necessity to develop legal base in this sphere was particularly emphasized during the meeting.

W.Bett was informed that the Ukrainian Side is interested in increasing exports of agricultural products (grain, flour, meat, sunflower oil, vegetables, etc.) to the Republic of Kenya and creating in Kenya a ground for further distribution of Ukrainian goods and services to other markets of East Africa.

It was mentioned that Ukraine as a party to a Free Trade Agreement with the EU could assist in exporting Kenyan goods to EU countries.

The meeting resulted in authorisation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Republic of Kenya a number of local companies to import the specified amount of yellow corn on a duty-free basis.
