February 4, 2015 Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Kenya held a meeting with the Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Kenya.
Kenyan MFA was informed about the issuance by illegitimate authorities on the territory of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol of passport documents to citizens of Ukraine. In this regard, Ukrainian side expressed hope that the Kenyan Government will refrain from recognizing these documents, thus supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In response, the head of the Consular Department expressed deep condolences on the events taking place in the East of Ukraine and reaffirmed the solidarity of the Ukrainian position and the need to comply with the rules of International Law.
In addition, the Ukrainian side informed about the temporary closure of some checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine, located in Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
The sides also emphasized mutual interest in further cooperation in education sphere, including admission of Kenyan students to higher education institutions of Ukraine and expressed hope for signing in the near future of the corresponding Agreement.
