Today as we mark the Day of Crimean Tatar Flag, the Flag of the Crimean Tatar people is flying at our Embassy next to the Ukrainian blue and yellow National Flag.
This flag has shared the tragic history of the Crimean Tatar people. It was banned during soviet times and only after Ukraine gained independence did the Crimean Tatars return to their motherland and revive their national traditions and symbols.
Nowadays as Russia continues its repressions in temporarily occupied Crimea, we express our solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people.
Ukraine continues its struggle to restore its territorial integrity as well as to defend the right of the Crimean Tatars to a peaceful life and their identity.
