December 12, 2020 H.E. Mr. Andrii Pravednyk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya held a meeting with Amb. Galma M. Boru, Director General for Bilateral and Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya.
Andrii Pravednyk expressed his gratitude to the Kenyan side, in particular to H.E. Mutahi Kagwe, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Captain Gilbert Kibe, Director General of Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, in connection to the decision of Kenyan authorities to include Ukraine to the "green" list of countries, whose nationals are not obliged to undergo mandatory 14-day self-isolation upon arrival in Kenya.
Amb. Galma M. Boru indicated that for 2021 the Kenyan side is set to finalize the drafts of the following bilateral agreements: an Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Kenya on the establishment of joint commission for trade and economic cooperation, a Memorandum of understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture and Food, an Intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in defense sphere as well as Agreement on cooperation in the field of education.
In the context of Agreement on cooperation in the field of education, Ambassador Andrii Pravednyk stated that the Ukrainian side will undoubtedly conclude a positive decision on granting a decent number of scholarships for potential Kenyan students.
The sides have determined the necessity to enhance the bilateral dialogue and further deepening of cooperation between Ukraine and Kenya.
In this regard following priorities were set for 2021:
Ambassador Andrii Pravednyk expressed gratitude to the Kenyan side for their support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Both sides highly appreciated the level of mutual support within international organizations, especially in terms of cooperation in the electoral area. The sides agreed to schedule the next meeting in January, 2021 in order to further discuss the time framework of the Amb. Raychelle Omamo’s visit to Ukraine.
