On April 26, 2018 the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya, in observance of the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day, held at one of the educational institutions in Nairobi a respective commemorative event.
The lecture and discussions with the youth on the topic of Chernobyl lessons for the future was organized at the Peponi School, one of the most prestigious international schools in Kenya.
A dialogue with senior students and teaching staff covered a wide range of issues pertaining to the Chernobyl disaster, including its technical causes, effects of radiation on human health and the environment, as well as the psychological aspects of the tragedy. A separate discussion touched upon the role of the Moscow authorities in the disaster, links between the tragedy and the end of the Cold War and collapse of the Soviet Union.
Also discussed in this regard was the issue of the on-going Russian aggression in Ukraine, wherein an additional information and explanations were provided.
The poster exposition titled "Chornobyl Lessons for the Future" prepared by the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya, along with the broadcast of various video materials, will last at the Peponi School April 23-27, 2018. A number of scientific publications on the subject of sources and effects of radiation were also presented to the library of the school.
