March 6, 2017 the delegates of the UNEP Member States met for the opening of the Fourth Annual Subcommittee meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The event aims to create a platform for discussions of the key environmental issues before the Third session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, as well as implementation of the decisions and resolutions adopted during its Second session.
The Ukrainian delegation headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to UNEP Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk took part in the opening of the meeting and aligned itself with the statement by the European Union and its Member States.
In its national statement Ukraine made special emphasis on the environmental consequences caused by the Russian military aggression against our country. Ukrainian delegation called on UNEP and all its Member States to take practical steps to implement the provisions of the Assembly’s resolution on the protection of the environment in areas affected by armed conflict.
