by Ambassador of Ukraine Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk
during the Ceremony of Presentation of Credentials
to His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., President and Commander in Chief of the Defense Forces of the Republic of Kenya
4 August 2015, Nairobi
I have the honour to present to your Excellency the Letter of Recall of my Predecessor and my Credentials by which His Excellency President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has appointed me to be the next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Kenya.
The diplomatic relations between our states crossed the threshold of two decades; they have been marked by strong political ties, promising field for mutually beneficial cooperation and reliable and trustworthy dialogue within the framework of multilateral diplomacy.
Today we share the same steady commitment to peace and security. And it would be indifferent on my part not to mention Ukraine’s solidarity with the Kenyan government in combating terrorism. Being its victim itself and experiencing difficulties of external threat, we share common views on this issue of global concern and confirm our solidarity with the Kenyan people.
Illegal annexation of Ukraine’s Autonomous Republic of Crimea by the Russian Federation, its direct military intervention in Donbas, as well as supply of weapons, military equipment, financial recourses and mercenaries to illegal armed groups seriously challenges sovereignty of my country.
However we are confident that with political support of our friends we will overcome today’s difficulties. Ukraine would highly appreciate demonstration of solidarity in issues of promoting peace and territorial integrity.
Your Excellency, it is my pleasant task, and in my capacity of an Ambassador I will ensure, that through the joint efforts we enlarge the scope of bilateral contacts, create additional momentum in existing and explore new areas of cooperation for the benefit of our nations.
The welfare of our peoples can be further fostered through trade and investments, cultural and educational exchange, military and technical cooperation.
Ukraine could offer quality goods and services as food products, fertilizers, steel products, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, services for geological exploration.
Ukraine aims currently at becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2016-2017. If elected Ukraine would strengthen the same policy and line of action, which it has promoted ever since Ukraine was one of founders of the United Nations in 1945 and which we share with the Republic of Kenya.
With Ukraine, the Security Council would have on board a credible builder of peace with a proven track record. Ukraine has received the Kenyan support for its candidacy and we are grateful for it.
I am confident, Excellency, I will have your support and that of your Government towards the goal of strengthening different dimensions of our bilateral relationship in the years to come.
Allow me Your Excellency to present the compliments of my Head of State and the people of Ukraine to you personally and, through you, to the people of Kenya.
It is my earnest hope that I shall succeed in my endeavours to promote further the relations that exist between our two countries.
